Think BIGGER

Dear Self,

I get that your desire is to locate a second job for supplemental income. However, I need for you to think BIGGER. Maybe you’re not able to find the job you seek because it has yet to be created. Use this time to tap into your passion inorder to create a purposeful yet lucrative second income for yourself. Think bigger! Be bolder! And do NOT let money cloud your judgment. If you settle for less than you deserve, you’ll get even less than what you settled for. Hard was never easy and easy will never be hard. Hiya! So exercise your creative juices and believe that this to shall come. And so it freakin is! This is myTRUTHmyCLARITY.

From,

Self

Moving with Life (5 Month Update)

image

This shit ain’t easy folks! It’s been five months since my return to the USA from Abu Dhabi. Do I miss living overseas? Ummm for the most part…..nah! But having been gone (away from family and friends) for two solid years has had quite an impact on my life. As I’ve moved back into my typical NYC routine it amazes me how fast the rat race showed its ass.

A big reason why I decided to move overseas had a lot to do with being extremely bored with life’s routine. I needed to experience something new so I moved overseas to Abu Dhabi for two years. I’ve always welcomed new challenges into my life because they warrant change. I believe that experiencing life outside of your comfort zone is the moment when you truly begin living on purpose.

Sigh…..which brings me to my present reality. Having moved back into my comfort zone, I am now questioning my purpose once again! Furthermore, returning to my old stomping ground has not been the best experience.

Professionally, I have moved into an administrative role and I’m thankful because I am now impacting a larger audience of students. Furthermore, it feels good to be working in a different capacity beyond the classroom. Although I have exhibited much success within my current role, I don’t feel a direct connection to the schools vision. It’s simply an opportunity to develop my administrative skills so that I may one day open my own school. And for that, I am thankful.

Socially, I feel almost as alone as I did while living overseas. Lol. Don’t get me wrong…. my friends are all still here and doing well. I’m so thankful for that. However, they’ve moved on and are living their own separate lives. Everything is just so different! Lol. I meet up with folks here and there but lack consistent communication with most of them. There’s no shade. I guess that’s just what happens when you move away for two years. The people you leave behind move on with their lives.

I’m writing this post because I think it’s important to share this experience with folks who are planning to move home after living overseas for a long period of time. There are so many thought provoking moments that have happened as a result of relocating back to the USA. I’m dedicating the next handful of entries to the adjustment period that has lasted much longer than I could’ve ever expected. If there’s one thing I know to be true, that is the simple fact that I have evolved. Therefore, it’s time I let go of the past and catch up to the present moment. New experiences lay dormant in the shadows of curiosity. :0)

Home Sweet Home….and so it is!

image

I’m in disbelief! Because home is five hours away and it feels so damn good. I completed my two year contract and man oh man……I prevailed. I don’t need to say much because my actions alone speak loudly. If you didn’t catch on….let me spell it out for you,

“Step outside of your comfort zone and let life lead the way. Furthermore, walk confidently into the direction of the unknown and serve. A person who serves is a person who is truly living life on purpose.”

I have completed my two year contract while living and teaching in a foreign country. Hell a Muslim country….located in the Middle East…..and I’m here to let you all know that I have received an abundance of blessings that have made me even better than I was upon my arrival on August 10, 2012.

The three BIGGEST EYE OPENERS I will take with me back to New York City are:

1. Serve….serve….serve! Are you seeking your purpose in life? Well? Serve…serve…serve… And it shall find you.

2. A person who is lonely no longer enjoys the company of him or herself. Get to know you……because if you don’t love yourself….then how in the hell you gonna love anybody else. And A….LONE….NESS….affords you the time needed to connect with your SOURCE. So get quiet and get alone.

3. Step outside of your comfort zone and be willing to grow. Growth affords you the opportunity to move with life. And life is always moving/changing…..be fluid…..and move with your purpose. The moment you step outside of your comfort zone is the moment you are truly LIVING on PURPOSE.

This is myTRUTHmyCLARITY.

And so the next chapter begins……NYC HERE I COME! Home sweet home….and so it is!

Humility vs. EGO

image

Dear ABU DHABI,

You have exercised my patience, flexibility and tolerance. For that I say thank you.

You have stretched my thinking beyond what I know to be true. For that I say thank you.

You have provided me with an abundance of time with myself. For that I say thank you.

You have brought me closer to my source. For that I say thank you.

You have filled my pockets with a little extra money. For that I say thank you.

You have reminded me of what’s most important in this world. For that I say thank you.

You’ve revealed my ego driven habits. For that I say thank you.

You have eliminated many of the distractions that kept me from evolving. For that I say thank you.

You have provided me with a new global lens in which I now view the world. For that I say thank you.

You have forced me to practice the act of surrendering. For that I say thank you.

You have reminded me of existing inequalities around the world. For that I say thank you.

You have reminded me of how fortunate I am to be an American. For that I say thank you.

Your location has afforded me unforgettable travel experiences. For that I say thank you.

As I lay here almost two years later pondering my return home, I feel pretty dang good. This has been the biggest challenge….well opportunity of my life. For that I say thank you.

I am an even better person than I was upon my arrival July 2012. For that I say thank you.

Sincerely,

A man who has been exercising HUMILITY since his arrival and has OFFICIALLY retired his EGO.
