Well another Au Pair Weekend down and this time a few of you may be reading my blog.
Welcome! It’s interesting because every time I spend a weekend with the Au Pairs it reignites my desire to be a Fish on a Bike. It’s the overall theme of the week. It references this idea around living beyond your comfort zone, and being open to new and different experiences. Au Pairs are in a unique position to do just that…. live on purpose.
An Au Pair is a young foreign person, typically a woman, who helps with housework or child care in exchange for room and board. During their time here in the USA they are encouraged to become fish on bikes! Many of these young people are driven to do this type of work for a variety of reasons. Needless to say, it’s always a pleasure to meet them during Au Pair weekend.
Au Pair Weekend is an organization I work with as an instructor. Essentially this weekend is designed to provide Au Pairs with coursework and community experiences that better prepare them for their time in the USA. Also, the weekend is partnered with an accredited university and provides them with the hours/credits needed to maintain their travel visas.
I felt compelled to write this entry because I sent a few Au Pairs to my blog site and thought to myself…. hmmm I haven’t written an entry in so long!
Au Pairs!!! It’s always a pleasure meeting each and everyone of you. I want to encourage you to make the most of your experience. Gain a comfort in being uncomfortable and surrender to all new things. Remember this: Be kind to yourself. You’ve are living in a complex country that I still have yet to figure out. Lol. Stand firmly in your truth and get to know thy self. This is the perfect time to do so. Adios!
